Getting Connected - a bit of background

The NYA (National Youth Agency) and NIACE (National Institute of Adult and Continuing Education) developed this programme in 2001 and the programme has been targeted at young people on the margins of education, at threat of exclusion from school and those who find academic schooling a challenge. The University of the First Age (UFA) is now taking this programme into the wider arena and hoping to work with young people from all walks of life given the ethos that we all, regardless of background, need emotional intelligence and awareness of self to make the most of our lives. UFA is working in partnership with NYA and NIACE UFA is now managing the delivery and accreditation of the Programme in Wales (with Youth Cymru), England and hopefully soon in Scotland too.
