Mentors can either use the curriculum on an informal basis as a framework for working with young people, or they can use the curriculum to gain accreditation for the young people they work with (however, staff must have completed the Getting Connected mentor training programme to go for accreditation). Getting Connected is accredited by OCN and young people can gain accreditation for their work on a unit by unit basis. The units can be completed in any order, and there is no minimum number of units which can be accredited (however, in order to gain the overall ‘Getting Connected: Profile of Personal Development’ candidates must submit any four units for accreditation).
